Romans 8:18-21 (NRSVUE) says:

“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God,   for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation

itself will be set free from its enslavement to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”

As people suffer, so the rest of creation suffers with it. At The Garden Community Church, we seek to live into our identity as children of God while also caring deeply for the creation that God has entrusted to us.

So then, we, as well as the creation itself will be set free from slavery to decay and will obtain “the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”

Our heart is this: That we can heal the earth, and heal each other, rooted and grounded in Christ.

By coming together around our community garden, with Jesus at the center, we can transcend our differences and fix our eyes on the one who can lead us into the truth. In an age of division, our focus is on the one who binds us together: Jesus, the author and pioneer of our faith.

By shifting the focus away from our differences and
towards who Jesus is, what he did, and what he preached, we can begin to heal the divide in our country, and in doing so, also heal the earth.
